On the second Sunday of each month, we offer free admission for all visitors and special family-friendly programming from 1 to 4 p.m.

To help ensure your family has a great experience at the High Museum, check out our Second Sunday Social Story (información en español). This will give you a sense of what to expect during your visit.

Exciting things are in the works at the High! Please note that there will be restricted access to certain galleries as we prepare for the reinstallation of our permanent collection this fall.

Please note: Admission is free from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Programming takes place from 1 to 4 p.m.

September 2018: Have a Field Day at the High!
Take a visual stroll through outdoor scenes in our galleries and work up a sweat on the piazza as you participate in fun and games!

Performances by Decatur City Dance
1:15, 2:15, and 3:15 p.m.
Sifly Piazza
Rain Space: Orkin Terrace
Experience ballet on the piazza by Decatur City Dance, the oldest performing dance company in DeKalb County. Watch as the dancers perform excerpts from Swan Lake and Elegy.

Art-Making Workshop: Community Art Project
1–4 p.m.
Sifly Piazza
Create an artwork for our Community Tree, a collaborative display at the center of our new Greene Family Learning Gallery. Complete a project inspired by an artwork in the High’s collection, then come back to see our tree’s branches filled with your colorful creations.

Art-Making Workshop: Spin Away!
1–4 p.m.
Greene Family Education Center, Lower Level, Stent Family Wing
Find inspiration in our galleries and then get creative in our family-friendly art workshops. High Museum teaching artists will lead a drop-in workshop inspired by toys and crafts on display in Outliers and American Vanguard Art. Families will create their own spinning toys.

Story Times
1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m.

Join the fun through an interactive children’s book experience inspired by our monthly theme.

Family Tour
2–2:30 p.m.
Taylor Lobby, Wieland Pavilion
Explore the High as a family on this interactive, docent-guided adventure in the galleries every Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tours begin in the Taylor Lobby.

Family Guides
Pick up a guide by the elevators in the Taylor Lobby (Wieland Pavilion) or the Greene Family Education Center (Stent Family Wing)
Take a self-guided journey through our collection and special exhibitions with your family. Each month, our guides explore a new theme through four works of art, questions to prompt exploration, and opportunities to sketch in our galleries. Best for ages 5+.
